A type of machinery in the material handling industry which could be used to raise and transport loads from one location to another is referred to as a forklift. Each forklift component has a specific function. Various components can be used to move the load horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the parts that lift and lower the load. There are different kinds of masts utilized for raising loads to various heights: triplex, quad, simplex and duplex.
Power Supply
Forklifts have four various ways of being powered: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is located inside the cab under the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is underneath the back of the truck.
Cab
Located in the middle of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The gas pedal, steering wheel, brake, lifting controls and tilting controls are all located in the cab.
Frame
The truck frame carries all the biggest components of the forklift, like the counterweights, which are located at the rear to prevent the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the axles, wheels and driveshaft.
